Tigers Aim For Top-Two Finish at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional

The Princeton men's cross country team races for a spot in the NCAA Championships, when it runs at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in University Park, Pa., on Nov. 11.
The men's 10k race will be at 1 p.m., Friday. The top two teams in the regional will advance to the NCAA championship meet, which will be held Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Tigers will face 22 teams, including ranked squads No. 22 Georgetown, No. 28 Penn as well as Bucknell, Duquesne, George Washington, La Salle, Lehigh, Loyola, Marshall, UMES, Monmouth, Navy, NJIT, Penn State, Pitt, Rider, Rutgers, St. Francis (PA), Seton Hall, St. Joe's, Temple and Villanova.
The crown has won by just three different teams in the past: Georgetown has won eight times including last year, Villanova has won twice and Princeton won in 2010. Princeton last competed as a team at the NCAA Championships in 2013, the end of a four-year string.
Additionally, the top four runners on non-qualifying teams will earned at-large bids to the NCAAs.Princeton finished second at Ivy Heps two weeks ago with three Tigers earning first-team All-Ivy League honors by finishing in the top 10. Junior William Paulson was the runner-up and was followed two seconds behind by Conor Lundy. Senior captain William Betrand was sixth. Freshman Viraj Deokar was named second-team All-Ivy after taking 14th and junior Noah Kauppila was the final scorer. Other Tigers who could score this weekend include junior Garrett O'Toole and , sophomore Jeremy Spiezio and freshman Gavin Gaynor.
