Lussi, Asom Set to Compete in Europe with U.S. Youth National Teams
February 17, 2016 | Women's Soccer
Princeton junior Tyler Lussi and freshman Mimi Asom will head to Europe with the U.S. U-23 and U-20 teams for tournaments in March.
Each headed to California to train with her respective age-group team in January. Lussi, a second-team All-America honoree this season after leading the Ivy with 15 goals and 35 points, will compete with the U-23 team at the Istria Cup in Croatia March 2-7. Lussi is one of just nine collegians on the 22-player roster.
Asom will compete in Spain at the La Manga tournament, a U-23 event, and the Americans will be sending its younger squad to compete with 15 other nations from across the globe as the U.S.'s preparations continue for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup beginning in November in Papua New Guinea.
Asom, the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, tied a Princeton rookie record with 12 goals in her first year, helping lead the Tigers to the Ivy title and the second round of the NCAA tournament.
