The third-ranked Princeton women's squash team will try to complete a perfect home season and secure the three seed for next weekend's Howe Cup national championships when it hosts fourth-ranked Trinity at the Jadwin Squash Courts Saturday at 1 pm.
Princeton has won five straight matches heading into the weekend, including three at Jadwin. One of those victories came over fifth-ranked Yale, a 7-2 win that has helped Princeton to its current ranking. It's also the last time the Tigers hope to see Yale, unless a national championship is on the line. The Bulldogs should be the fifth seed at the Howe Cup (held at Yale), and are likely to face the loser of Saturday's Princeton/Trinity match.
The Bantams lost their season opener to Stanford, but have come back and matched Princeton result-for-result since then. Each team has lost to both No. 1 Harvard and No. 2 Penn, but beaten everybody else.
Princeton is led by the All-America duo of Olivia Fiechter and Maria Elena Ubina, but they will be tested by the Trinity duo of Kanzy El Defrawy and Raneem Sharaf. El Defrawy is a two-time CSA finalist, so a victory for Fiechter would be the biggest of her young collegiate career.
It will also be the final home match for seniors Rachel Leizman, Tara Harrington, Isabella Bersani and Libbie Maine. Each has won at least one match this season; combined, they have 17 on the season.
