Barowski Takes 6th in NCAA 800 Final

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (3/12/16) - Senior Cecilia Barowski finished sixth in the 800 final at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship at Samford University this evening, finished in 2:06.81.
Barowski qualified for the final by winning heat 1 of 2 in the semifinals yesterday with a time of 2:04.44.
The favorite to win the 800, Raevyn Rogers (Oregon) did indeed take first at 2:04.68. Hanna Green (Va Tech) was second at 2:05.90.
Barowski had the fastest split in the first 200 meters at 29.49. At 400 meters she was in sixth place at 400 meters after clocking a 32.86 split, with Green leading. Green held the lead through the next 200 meters, and Barowski sat seventh with a 33.27 split. Rogers turned on the jets at the bell with a 29.41 in the final 200 meters finished at 2:04.68. Anima Banks (Duke), who was in third at the bell went down and Barowski climbed her way into sixth place with a 31.21 split and final time of 2:06.81.
Barowski earns second-team All-America honors for her sixth-place finish and looks ahead to outdoor season which gets underway in just five days.
