Four Takes Take First in Final Day of Bulls Invite

TAMPA, Fla. (3/18/16) - Four Tigers took home gold on the final day of the University of South Florida Bulls Invitational on Friday, March 16. Senior Meghan McMullin, junior Katie Hanss and junior Ally Markovich and sophomore Ashley Forte each won their respective events.
McMullin won the 400 hurdles at 1:01.87, the only competitor to post a time under 1:02. Freshman Carly Bonnet was sixth at 1:03.40.
The Tigers went 1-2-3 in the 1500 with Hanss leading the pack at 4:30.66. Senior Emily de La Bruyer followed at 4:30.69 and freshman Brighie Leach was third at 4:31.80.
Markovich won the steeplechase and was the only competitor to finish the course in under 11 minutes as she crossed the line at 10:58.23, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the competitor.
All five of the Tigers entered in the 800 finished in the top eight. Forte won at 2:11.62 and was followed in second place by freshman Anna Jurew at 2:11.74 and junior Zoe Sims in third at 2:12.64. Freshman Alie Fordyce was fith at 2:13.29 while senior Summer Hanson was eighth at 2:15.44. 40 entered in the event.
Freshman Nnenna Ibe was the runner-up in the high jump as she cleared 1.65 (5-5) on her first attempt at the height.
Sophomore Kennedy O'Dell and senior Brielle Rowe went 3-4 in the discus. O'Dell threw to 43.88 (143-11) on her fourth attempt and reached 40 meters on two others. Rowe reached 42.70 (140-1) on her first throw of the afternoon and was over 41 meters on every single one of her countable throws.
Junior Elisa Steele was third with the second-best colleigate time in the 400 at 56.78. Freshman Jackie Berardo was sixth at 58.28, while sophomore Quinn Parker was eighth at 58.68.
Freshman Kerri Davidson was fourth in the triple jump at 11.44 (37-6.50) on her final jump to move up from seventh place. Junior Alex Lanzafame took seventh instead with an 11.06 (36-3.50) on her only countable jump of the afternoon.
Senior Taylor Morgan led the Tigers in the shot put with a toss of 12.42 (40-9) on her second attempt. She fouled on her final three.
Sophomore Christina Walter had the best time for the Tigers in the 100 clocking a 12.20 to win section 3 and take sixth overall. Classmate Maia Craver won her section of 200 and took seventh overall at 24.93
After taking second in the pole vault yesterday, junior Allison Harris paced the Orange & Black in the 100-meter hurdles with a 1.47 to take 10th overall.
Freshman Shea Copeland, senior Sara Ronde, Parker and Walter made up the 4x100 that took fifth at 47.89
The Tigers sent in 3 relays for the 4x400 and placed 2-6-7. Sophomore Ashley Fortre, Steele, Parker and McMullin ran 3:49.07 for second.
