Baseball Drops 4-2 Decision to No. 4 Louisville

LOUISVILLE – The Princeton baseball team dropped a tough 4-2 decision to the No. 4 nationally ranked Louisville Cardinals at John Patterson Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Six different Tigers had hits in the contest with juniors Nick Hernandez and Paul Tupper providing RBI knocks in the contest. Senior Luke Strieber pitched five innings, striking out four and allowing four earned runs in the loss. Junior Chris Giglio and senior Danny Thomson threw a combined three scoreless innings of relief.
Louisville scored the first run of the contest in the third inning on a RBI single by Nick Solak. After not getting a runner in scoring position home in the first, the Tigers finally came through in the top of fourth frame. Following two singles, Hernandez doubled to right field, scoring senior Danny Hoy. Two batters later, Tupper ripped a base hit through the left side to put the road team in front, 2-1.
The Cardinals responded in their half of the fifth inning. With two out, Brendan McKay laced a two-run double down the right line, putting the home team ahead, 3-2. Louisville added an insurance run one batter later on a RBI single by Colin Lyman.
Princeton and Louisville will get back at tomorrow at 1 p.m. Senior Cameron Mingo takes the ball for the Tigers while Brendan McKay will be the starter for the Cardinals.
