Women's Track Wins Six Events and Team Title at Outdoor Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/16/16) - The Princeton women's track & field team won six events and earned 195 points to win the 2016 Princeton Outdoor Invitational held this afternoon at Weaver Stadium.
Sophomore Ashley Forte and freshman Anna Jurew collected 13 points in the 800 as they went 2-3 while both claiming PRs. Forte ran 2:07.81, improving on her previous best of 2:10.21, while Jurew ran 2:10.52.
Senior Cecilia Barowski won the 400 at 54.63 while junior Elisa Steele was fifth at 56.62 as the pair added 12 points towards the team total.
Sophomore Christina Walter was the runner-up in the 100 with a PR of 12.18 to get her team eight points all on her own.
Seven more points came in the 1500 as the Tigers went 4-5-6. Senior Kathryn Fluehr had the best time for the team at 4:31.91 and was followed by junior Alexandra Markovich at 4:32.29 and junior Zoe Sims at 4:36.23.
Junior Katie Hanss and sophomore Melinda Renuart dominated the 3k. The only two Tigers entered in the event, they finished first and second with the only two times under 10 minutes. Hanss ran 9:39.68, while Renuart posted a 9:43.91.
A total of 19 points came in the hurdles. In the high hurdles, junior Allison Harris was third at 14.41 with freshman Ellie Randolph fifth at 14.74 and senior Taylor Morgan sixth at 14.93. All three ran PRs. Senior Meghan McMullin was third in the 400 hurdles at 1:01.64 with freshman Carly Bonnet in fourth place with a time of 1:03.26.
Harris and Morgan both took victories in the field events as well.
Harris was just shy of the program record in the pole vault as she cleared 4.10 (13-5.25). No one else in the competition reach over 3.65. The record of 4.11 is held by Chelo Canino '04 who reached the height at the 2004 NCAA Regionals.
Morgan won the shot put with a PR of 13.14 (43-1.50), besting her previous 12.96 (42-6.25). She was also third in the high jump, clearing 1.65 (5-5).
Freshman Nnenna Ibe took second place in the high jump clearing 1.70 (5-7). The Tigers got 14 points in the event as senior Kerry Krause added to Morgan and Ibe's points with a mark of 1.60 (5-3) for sixth place.
Junior Ariel Becker scored in two events, the long jump and the javelin. She PR'ed as the runner-up in the long jump with a leap 5.61 (18-5) with senior Sara Ronde taking fifth at 5.54 (18-2.25). Becker was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 37.64 (123-6).
Junior Alex Lanzafame added to the Princeton point total with a fourth-place mark in the triple jump as she hit a mark of 11.38 (37-4).
Both sophomore Kennedy O'Dell and senior Brielle Rowe added 16 points apiece to the team total. O'Dell was third in the discus at 42.44 (139-3) and in the hammer at 51.93 (170-4) and took fourth in the shot put at 12.66 (41-6.50). Rowe had matching second-place finishes in the discus and hammer. She threw to 42.62 (139-10) in the discus and recorded a PR of 52.92 (173-7) in the hammer.
Another PR came on the track from senior Emily de La Bruyere. Competing in the steeplechase for the first time this season, de La Bruyere won the event at 10:13.63, more than one minute ahead of the rest of the competition.
Steele, McMullin, Forte and Barowski made up the 4x400 that claimed a victory, as the relay clocked 3:43.30 for 10 points.
Princeton continues its home stretch next weekend when it hosts the annual Larry Ellis Invitational.
