Final Day Set at Princeton's ITA Summer Circuit Site

Princeton incoming freshmen Davey Roberts and Payton Holden moved on to the quarterfinals at Princeton's ITA Summer Circuit tournament Sunday, continuing their play into Monday's final day.
Holden got past Western Connecticut State rising junior Marco Gobbato 6-1, 6-1 in the round of 32 before defeating Villanova rising junior Matthew Phelps in the round of 16. Holden, the draw's fourth seed, will face West Windsor, N.J. native and doubles partner Michael Zhao in the quarters at 8:30 a.m. Monday. Roberts, the sixth seed, had a round of 32 default win over Fair Haven, N.J. native Cameron Swanson before defeating South Carolinian Tate Steinour 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16. Roberts, the sixth seed, will face Notre Dame rising sophomore Alex Lebedev, the draw's third seed, in the quarters at 8:30.
A day before their head-to-head singles matchup, Zhao and Holden got to celebrate a doubles title after a successful defense of their top seed, defeating Lehigh rising junior Dylan Karchere-Sun and Pennsylvania native Justin Kang 8-4 in the round of 16, Delaware native Scott Battaglia and Loyola rising junior Tyler Blessing 8-4 in the quarters, Short Hills, N.J. native Charlie Shanker and Bucknell rising sophomore Max McDonald 8-1 in the semis and New Yorker Jacob Kern and Pepperdine rising junior Lautaro Pane, the draw's second seed, in a default win in the final. Kern and Pane had a default win over Holden and playing partner Michael Rozenvasser of Haworth, N.J. in the semis after Holden and Rozenvasser, the draw's third seed, beat New Yorker Daniel Shleimovich and Ridgewood, N.J. native Henry Shepherd 8-5 in the round of 16 and Jamaican Maiz Sinclair and Michigander Nicholas Solarewicz 8-2 in the quarters.
Winners will advance to the ITA Summer Nationals tournament Aug. 13-16 at the University of Indiana.
