Asom Named Ivy League Player of the Week
August 29, 2016 | Women's Soccer
Sophomore Mimi Asom has earned the Ivy League's first women's soccer Player of the Week award for 2016, the league office has announced.
Asom was the only Tiger to score in both games over the weekend as Princeton started the new season 2-0 with a 3-1 win over Fordham and a 1-0 win over Villanova. Asom assisted on the second goal and scored the last against the Rams before putting in the Villanova match's lone goal in the 80th minute.
Last season, Asom was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year after setting a league record with six Rookie of the Week recognitions and earning an Ivy Player of the Week honor on Oct. 26, 2015. Her two goals on the weekend give her 14 for her career, a fine start after a rookie season that saw her tie the program's record for goals by a freshman with 12.
Princeton, which is 2-0 for the second straight year, will head on the road for the first time this fall to face Delaware Friday at 7 p.m.
