Coming off a 2-1 performance at the season-opening San Francisco Invitational last weekend, the defending Ivy League champion Princeton women's volleyball team will make its way to the nation's capital this weekend to play three matches in a 24-hour span during the 2016 Georgetown Classic. The Tigers will open Friday at 1 pm against Towson, and then will take on Maryland Friday night at 7 pm. Princeton will open Saturday's competition with a 9 am match against the host Hoyas, with all three matches being played at McDonough Arena.

WINNING WAYS
After winning its final seven Ivy League matches last season, Princeton got right back on the winning track with victories over both Campbell and San Francisco last weekend; the Tigers' lone loss came in the finale against Big Ten member Indiana. Senior co-captain Brittany Ptak, a two-time All-Ivy League honoree, led the Tigers with 4.1 kills per set and a .464 attack percentage; both totals ranked in the top three in the Ivy League over the first weekend. Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Cara Mattaliano averaged 3.4 kills per set, while All-Ivy setter Claire Nussbaum averaged an Ivy-best 10.78 assists per set.
FRESH FACES
Freshman Devon Peterkin made her collegiate debut a memorable one. The San Diego native had 14 kills in a win over Campbell, and she finished the weekend with 29 kills and a .203 hitting percentage. Classmate Maggie O'Connell hit .611 for the weekend and had 12 kills while playing on the right side, while Jessica Harris recorded 15 assists in reserve action.
EARLY HONORS
The 'Peterkin' name is not a new one for Ivy League awards. Kendall Peterkin was a three-time All-Ivy League honoree and a multi-time Player of the Week honoree. Devon, her younger sister, wasted no time making a name for herself; she earned the first Ivy League Rookie of the Week award of the 2016 season following her impressive performance in San Francisco. Both Peterkin and Ptak were also named to the all-tournament team.
THIS WEEKEND'S OPPONENTS
Towson (6-1) won its first six matches of the season before losing to Seton Hall last weekend; all six of Towson's victories this season have been by 3-0 scores. Jessica Harris has been the go-to hitter for the Tigers; she is averaging 4.27 kills per set, the most for any player in the field this weekend. Maryland (5-1) won its season-opening invitational, and its lone loss this season came against fourth-ranked Kansas. The Terrapins' top hitter is Gia Milana, who is just off Harris' pace with 4.26 kills per set. Georgetown (2-4) has gone 1-2 in each of its first two weekends, Alyssa Sinnette posted a double-double (16 kills, 11 digs) to help the Hoyas to a win over Stetson in their most recent match.
