Princeton Fourth in Dual Meet Rankings

The Princeton men's indoor track & field team is ranked fourth in the Track & Field News dual meet rankings. The Tigers cruised to a 30-point victory over Navy on Jan. 6 in the 60-year-anniversary of the first time the two teams met. Princeton is 1-0 in dual meets this season.
The Tigers won 15 of 18 events against Navy, losing just two events they entered. A third, the 5k, Princeton did not have any entries.
Sophomore Charles Volker, who holds the school record in the 60 kept it up with a win in the event at 6.93. Junior Josh Freeman took the win in the 200 with a time of 22.13, just off of his personal best of 22.10.
Junior Carrington Akosa, who holds the top times on the team in the 60, 200 and 400 won the 400 with a personal best of 48.85. it was the first time Akosa ran the 400 this season. Akosa ranks in the top 75 in all three events nationwide. Senior Ray Mennin picked up a PR as well with a 1:04.97 to win the 500. Sophomore Franklin Aririguzoh followed up with a win the 800, running the fastest 800 time of any Tiger this season at 1:54.25, and also a PR.
The Tigers claimed two more wins in the middle distance with junior Noah Kauppila posting a 2:29.66 as he crossed the line first in the 1,000. Junior Zachary Albright ran 4:14.35 to win the mile. Both 4x400 and 4x800 won as well, with a big six-second differential for the 4x800 of Aririguzoh, Kauppila, Josh Ingalls and Jared Lee.
Senior Xavier Bledsoe had a PR of 2.14 (7-00.25) on his second attempt to win the high jump. His mark ranks him 22nd nationally. Junior August Kiles, who ranks 18th in the nation in the pole vault, won the event as he cleared 5.11 (16-9.25) on his first attempt at the height.
In the vertical jumps, senior Greg Leeper won the long jump with a leap of 6.88 (22-7) on his second attempt, while sophomore Stefan Amokwandoh won the triple with a mark of 15.02 (49-3.50), coming on his first attempt. Amokwandoh ranks 25th nationally in the triple.
Two more wins came in the throws. Adam Kelly, who put up the sixth best throw in the nation last month in the weight throw, won the event again - this time with a throw of 21.26 (69-9). All six of his throws were over 20 meters, a mark none of the other five throws reached. Senior Chris Cook took top honors in the shot put as all five of his countable throws reached over 17 meters, his best being 17.97 (58-11.50) coming on his final throw.
The defending Ivy League champion Princeton next competes at the annual HYP meet on Sunday, Jan. 29 in New Haven.
