Women's Middle Distance Get Experience at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/14/17) - After yesterday's fourth-place finish at the Penn State National Open, that saw the return of five-time All-America Megan Curham, Princeton utilized its middle distance runners to take part in the Princeton Invitational.
Sophomore Sierra Casteneda was the first Tiger across the line, clocking 22:45.9 to take 45th overall. Junior Anna Jurew, who qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the outdoor 800 and is a two-time Ivy Heps champion in the relay, posted a 23:28.7. Right behind her was junior Marie-Fee Breyer at 23:28.8. Senior Ashley Forte, who like Berardo qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 800 last spring, followed at 24:43.0. The final scorer was senior Melana Hammel with a time of 24:56.5.
Columbia won the meet with 124 points, while Laval (Ontario) claimed 150 points with three of the top four across the line and Marist also had 150 points. Princeton grabbed 451 points to finish 17th overall.
The Tigers look for their 10th Ivy League Heps title in less than two weeks on Oct. 27. The 6k race in Van Cortlandt Park is set to go off at 11 a.m.
