Sarita Wins Consolation Final at Navy Invitational
October 29, 2017 | Men's Tennis
Princeton freshman Kabir Sarita won the A flight consolation final Sunday at Navy's Gold Invitational to wrap up the weekend.
Sarita was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Navy's Matthew Lee, while on the other side of the bracket, senior Luke Gamble battled Longwood's Amadeo Blasco to a 6-4, 6-4 defeat in the main-draw A final.
Gamble and Sarita together faced Blasco and his Longwood teammate Raisei Sakai in the doubles final, taking it to a tiebreak before falling 7-6(6).
"The Navy tournament was very productive for us as we were able to get some of our young players valuable reps and match play," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "It was also important for Luke to get back on court and find some positive rhythm after having a minor shoulder procedure this summer. I was pleased with our results and we'll look forward to wrapping up the fall season with our final tournament next weekend."
Princeton will compete at the clay-court Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Florida next weekend with Gamble, Diego Vives, Ben Tso and Davey Roberts representing the Tigers.
