The Princeton Tigers travel to North Carolina to take on the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on the A-10 Network.
Â
As Princeton readies for its contest vs. Davidson, here are some factors to watch out for…
Â
Carlie Littlefield – Littlefield has been selected as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week in consecutive weeks (Nov. 13, Nov. 20). She is the first Princeton player to be honored with Ivy League Rookie of the Week accolades in back-to-back weeks to open the season since Niveen Rasheed earned five straight in 2009. Rasheed would later go on to set the program record with nine Rookie of the Week accolades and be named the 2010 Ivy Rookie of the Year. Littlefield leads the team in minutes played (36.7) and is averaging 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists while shooting 47.8 percent. She has scored at least 10 points and grabbed at least three rebounds in every game so far for Princeton.
Â
Princeton's Offense – The Tigers have started the season with some hot shooting as they are over 44 percent from the floor, which is 82nd in the nation. Princeton has recorded at least 30 points in five of its six halves and has three players averaging at least 10 points per game in Bella Alarie, Littlefield and Tia Weledji. Leslie Robinson is right behind them with 9.7 points per game.Â
Â
Princeton's Three-Point Defense – Princeton ranks as one of the best teams in the country in defending the three-point line (24.4, 44th). No team has made more than four treys against the Tigers. The Wildcats average over six three-pointers per game with Katie Turner leading the way. Her 2.75 buckets from beyond the arc are fourth in the A-10 conference while her 45.8 percent shooting from distance is 6th.
Â
Davidson's Offense – The Wildcats have struggled shooting the ball this season, making just 33.3 percent of their shots, good for 324th (out of 345) in the country. Davidson has shot over 40 percent from the floor just once in its four games this season, while 60.0 points per game is 271st in Division I. Princeton has allowed just one team, Georgia Tech, to shoot over 40 percent.
Â
Sarah Donovan – Donovan was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week last week after helping Davidson to a 1-1 week against Furman and Appalachian State by averaging a team-best 14.5 points, while pulling in 7.0 rebounds a game. Donovan shot 47.4 percent and was 11-of-13 from the free throw line.
Â
On the year, the freshman is averaging 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds a game, while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor and a team-best 89.5 percent from the charity stripe (17-for-19) through her first four collegiate games.
