Thirteen straight first-half points gave the Princeton men's basketball team a lead they never relinquished in a 64-49 win at Penn Tuesday night, putting the Tigers on a nine-game winning streak for the first time since 2011 and setting a program record with seven consecutive wins over Penn.
Princeton improved to 13-6 overall and 6-0 in the Ivy League with the win, its best start since starting 8-0 in 2011.
Senior Spencer Weisz led Princeton with 22 points on a career-best six 3-pointers, giving him his fifth career 20-point game and second in the team's last three contests, along with his career-high 26 points last Friday at Dartmouth. Weisz had six of Princeton's 14 3-pointers on the night.
Penn's last lead was 10-9 with 13-plus minutes until halftime, and then came Princeton's 13-0 run over six minutes to hold a 12-point lead with more than seven minutes before the break.
Once Princeton got that 22-10 lead, Penn was never closer than nine points the rest of the way. An Alec Brennan 3-pointer with less than three minutes to go gave Princeton its largest lead of 20 points at 62-42.
Myles Stephens joined Weisz in double figures with 16 points, the only two Tigers to reach 10 on the night.
Princeton will continue the Ivy League slate Friday at home against Cornell, a 7 p.m. tip.
