Princeton (0-2) began its dual-match season last weekend with a trip to the Midwest for matches against Michigan and Indiana. Wednesday, the Tigers got news that rookie Payton Holden made his ITA ranking debut at No. 101, joining the doubles team of 20th-ranked Alex Day and Luke Gamble on the ITA lists.
Rice (4-3) has the ninth-ranked doubles team in the country in Tommy Bennett and David Warren. The Owls began their dual season with five home matches, winning four with a visit from Texas A&M as the lone loss. Rice is making it an Ivy weekend swing, heading to Penn Sunday. Princeton and Rice have met once, with the Owls winning 4-3 last season in Houston.
Wisconsin (3-0) will also face both Penn and Princeton this weekend with the Badgers heading to Philadelphia Saturday. It'll be Wisconsin's first matches away from Madison, where they've faced Valparaiso, South Dakota State and Middle Tennessee. Princeton and Wisconsin have met four times, but only once since 1995. The Badgers beat Princeton 4-3 in Madison to open the dual-meet season a year ago.
VCU (6-1) will start its weekend at Penn State, playing there Friday. All six of the Rams wins this season have come at home, with the lone loss a Jan. 28 trip to Duke, then ranked 25th in the nation. Princeton and VCU have met twice, but not since 2009.
The run begins a homestand for the Tigers who will play 11 of their next 13 in Jadwin Gym. Princeton will host the ECAC Championship next weekend, and after returning from a trip to Alabama for the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic the final weekend of February, the Tigers will host Denver, Buffalo, Bryant, NJIT and William & Mary over the first two weekends of March before heading out to California on the spring trip.
