Princeton Sits No. 11 in CWPA Varsity Poll, Travels to Harvard This Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. – Following a 7-6 win victory over the No. 19 Harvard Crimson on national television, the Princeton Tigers stand at No. 11 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll.

USC jumped to the top spot, overtaking Stanford in the Varsity Poll. The top CWPA team, Michigan, gained one position at No. 7. San Jose State was the top climber, going from No. 17 last week to No. 10 this week.
Against Harvard, Ashleigh Johnson stopped 10 shots while Lindsey Kelleher had her seventh career hat trick with three goals including the game-winner. Eliza Britt contributed two tallies and a steal in the win.
Less than a week after battling Harvard, Princeton will take on its CWPA foe on Friday night (7:45 p.m.) in the Crimson Invitational. Each game will be featured on the Ivy League Digital Network. On Saturday, head coach Luis Nicolao's unit battles two more top 25 squads in No. 23 Marist (12:30 p.m.) and No. 21 Wagner (4:15 p.m.). Princeton is a combined 27-1 against those two opponents all-time. To finish the Invite, the Tigers play No. 16 UC-San Diego at 9:15 a.m. The women's water polo team is 14-4 in program history against the Tritons.
The Tigers have four players with more than 10+ goals, led by Chelsea Johnson's 15 tallies. Johnson and Britt's combined 43 points pace the Princeton's offense. Amy Castellano has made a major impact in her first collegiate season, posting 11 goals and five assists. Kelleher improved her season totals to seven tallies and seven assists with a four-point outing vs. Harvard. In her return to Princeton, Ashleigh Johnson boasts a 6-0 record and .729 save percentage.
