Hompe Moves To 5th On Tiger Career Points List In 18-8 Win At Dartmouth
March 25, 2017 | Women's Lacrosse
If there was any question how sixth-ranked Princeton would respond to its first loss of the season, it didn't take long to get an answer.
The Tigers got goals from nine different players, including a career-high four from freshman Tess D'Orsi, and built a 10-1 halftime lead en route to an 18-8 win at Dartmouth Saturday afternoon. The victory improves Princeton to 6-1 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in the Ivy League.
Kathryn Hallett and Olivia Hompe both added three goals apiece for Princeton, which was coming off its first loss of the season earlier this week against ninth-ranked Penn State. Hompe had two assists as well, making it a milestone performance for the 2017 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member. She moved up two spots on the Princeton career points list, as her current total of 208 topped both Lauren Simone (205) and Kathleen Miller (207).
The offense was highly efficient, scoring 18 times on its 26 shots on goal. Elizabeth George got the offense going with two of Princeton's first three goals, and a man-up goal by Hallett opened an 8-0 lead before the Big Green was finally able to get on the board. Senior Ellie DeGarmo, another member of the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, had 17 saves in the win.
Princeton will remain home for a pair of games this week, including a Top-10 showdown against Syracuse Wednesday at 7 pm on the Ivy League Digital Network.
