D'Orsi Scores Four as Princeton Wins Ivy Opener, 10-7 vs. Brown
March 04, 2017 | Women's Lacrosse
Freshman Tess D'Orsi paced the Princeton offense with four goals to lead the Tigers to a 10-7 win over Brown in the Ivy League opener on Saturday, March 4 at Class of 1952 Stadium.
Â
D'Orsi, the Inside Lacrosse national Rookie of the Week matched her career high of four goals. She has had at least two goals in every game this season. Senior Olivia Hompe kept her point-scoring streak alive with a team-high three assists and now has a point in the last 40 straight games. She is just three points away from her 200 career point. Junior Camille Sullivan net a hat trick, while senior Anna Doherty scored twice.
Â
It was a windy afternoon with turnovers sprouting up nearly all over the field. No. 11-ranked Princeton was responsible for causing 12, with sophomore Elizabeth George leading the way with four.
Â
The Tigers took a 5-1 lead in the first half, scoring the first five goals of the game before Brown got on the board with 1:07 to play.
Â
The second half began with Brown netting three of the first four, to cut its deficit to just two, 6-4. Princeton then net the next three goals, all on free-position attempts, to move ahead 9-4 at 13:43. The Bears added four straight in seven minutes as they drew within two, 9-7.
Â
Sullivan's third of the game would be the final strike at 3:27 on a great feed from Hompe at 3:27.
Â
Mikaela Karlsson was a big reason for keeping Brown in the game, with 10 saves on the afternoon. Carolyn Paletta scored three times, while Hafsa Moinuddin had two goals.
Â
Senior Ellie DeGarmo made 12 saves as Princeton improves to 4-0 on the season.
