Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 4-0 as it takes on its first nationally-ranked opponent of the season. The Tigers are ranked No. 9 themselves and have the seventh-best scoring offense in the nation (15.25) and is averages the third-most points per game nationally at 23.33. Leading the offense is senior Olivia Hompe. She has 16 goals and six assists for 22 points. Freshman Tess D'Orsi has scored 13 times and adds one assist. Junior Colby Chanenchuk has the most assists on the team, eight, and has scored five times. Sophomore Allie Rogers has reached double digits as well with four goals and seven assists.
   Defensively, the Tigers are backstopped by Ellie DeGarmo. She ranks third in the nation in save percentage at .585 and averages 12 saves per game. Defenders Amanda Leavell and Alex Argo both have a team-best five caused turnovers. Senior Leavell adds seven draw controls, one behind sophomore Elizabeth George's team-high of eight. Sophomore Argo and DeGarmo have nine ground balls apiece to rank first in the category.
The Series
Princeton and Notre Dame are tied 1-1 in the series. The Tigers won an 11-5 game in 2002 in the NCAA Quarterfinals - en route to winning the national championship. The first regular season game was just last year, a 16-11 Notre Dame win in South Bend, marking the Tigers first loss of the 2016 season.
Scouting the Fighting Irish
Notre Dame comes to Princeton with a wealth of game experience, having played nine games already this season. The Fighting Irish are 8-1 overall and ranked No. 8 in the IWLCA poll this week. The offense has nearly double its opponents in goals 141-77, averaging 15.67 per game. They are led by Senior Cortney Fortunado who has 42 points on 30 goals and 12 assists. Sophomore Nikki Ortega adds 31 points on 15 goals and 16 helpers. Both sophomore Samantha Lynch and senior Casey Pearsall have reached 20 points. Freshman Savannah Buchanan is the team leader in draw controls with 27 and caused turnovers with 18. Caused turnovers is a category Notre Dame has dominated its opponents in with 60 more (118-58). Sophomore Samantha Giacolone has started in net for all nine games and has a .469 save percentage and an 8.70 GAA stopping 67 shots and allowing 76.
