No. 11 Princetons Runs Record to 10-0; Johnson Combines For 31 Saves

BOSTON – The No. 11 Princeton Tigers ran their record to 10-0 with two more victories at the Crimson Invitational on Saturday evening. The Tigers took down the No. 23 Marist Red Foxes, 8-5, and the No. 21 Wagner Seahawks, 9-5, at Blodgett Pool.
No. 11 Princeton 8, No. 23 Marist 5
Princeton used seven different goal scorers to take down No. 23 Marist. Freshman Amy Castellano was the only player to register two goals. Ashleigh Johnson came up with 13 saves in the win.
Ashleigh Johnson pitched a shutout in the first quarter as the Tigers raced out to a 3-0 lead. Marist got on the board with two in the second stanza, but Princeton took a 5-2 advantage into halftime. The Tigers kept their distance from the Red Foxes, outscoring them 2-1 in the third quarter en route to a 7-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Princeton held off Marist to win its ninth straight game.

Castellano posted a hat trick to finish the night with five goals. Lindsey Kelleher, Morgan Hallock and Haley Wan also added multi-goal outings. Ashleigh Johnson was sparkling in goal as she registered 18 saves, one night after a 19-save performance.
Johnson shined in the first quarter as she stopped six attempts while Princeton took a 3-1 lead after eight minutes. As the Tigers' offense tallied two more goals in the second quarter, Johnson made four more saves, finishing with 10 in the first half. Just like the first game of the day, Princeton led 5-2 at the intermission.
The Tigers' offense kept up the intensity, dropping in three more tallies as the second half got underway. As the final quarter got underway, the Tigers held a four-goal lead which was more than enough for the best goalie in the world.
