No. 10 Princeton Improves to 3-0 In CWPA, Downs Saint Francis and Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 10 Princeton Tigers rattled off two straight Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) conference victories against the Saint Francis Red Flashes and Bucknell Bison at Kinney Natatorium on Saturday.

Morgan Hallock, Chelsea Johnson and Hannah Lapkin each scored two goals while Kasey Bersh recorded four saves in her second career start.
The Tigers rolled off the first five goals of the game before the Red Flashes scored with 15 seconds to go in the first quarter. Bersh pitched a shutout in the second quarter while the Tigers added four more tallies and led 9-1 at the intermission. Saint Francis outscored Princeton, 4-1, in the second half, but did not threaten the No. 10 nationally ranked squad.

Unfazed by her streak of six consecutive hat streaks coming to an end earlier in the day, Haley Wan buried five goals to tie her personal record vs. the Bison. The junior also amassed five tallies vs. Pomona-Pitzer on Mar. 21.
Chelsea Johnson, Eliza Britt, Sydney Saxe and Lindsey Kelleher also collected goals in the game. Princeton stole 11 passes and drew eight ejections in the CWPA matchup. Ashleigh Johnson snagged seven saves in the win.
Princeton's defense was lights out to open the contest as it held the Bison without a goal in the first quarter. The Tigers, in front 1-0, outpaced Bucknell, 3-2, in the second frame and took a 4-2 advantage into halftime. Bucknell was kept off the scoreboard again, this time in the third quarter, while Princeton added three more goals, going in front, 7-2, putting the game away.
With the two wins, Princeton is tied atop the CWPA standings with the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines at 3-0. Those two teams battle tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. The Tigers have nine wins vs. the CWPA Varsity Poll Top-20.
