Ivy Title to be Decided This Weekend for Women's Tennis Team
April 19, 2017 | Women's Tennis
The regular season for all eight Ivy League women's tennis teams will come to an end Sunday.

Princeton at Dartmouth | Sunday, 1 p.m. | ILDN | @PrincetonTennis
Though that day is close, the final Ivy standings are far from clear. What is set is if Princeton can win two matches this weekend, the Tigers will be outright Ivy League champions for the fourth straight year. That would put Princeton alongside Harvard as the only school to win four titles in a row, whether shared or outright. The Crimson won eight in a row from 1983-90, doing so outright from 1984-88, and won four in a row from 2003-06, all outright.
Appropriately enough, Princeton and Harvard are tied at 4-1. Though Princeton would clinch at least a share of the Ivy title with a win, the NCAA automatic bid wouldn't be clinched just with a win Saturday. Princeton's lone loss is to Cornell, as is Harvard's, and with the Big Red one of three teams right behind the Tigers and Crimson at 3-2, not all the tiebreakers point to the Tigers. Dartmouth, which Princeton will face Sunday, and Penn are also at 3-2.
No. 49 Harvard and No. 44 Dartmouth remained in the ITA team rankings this week and are the only Ivy teams included in the ITA's top 50.
Princeton had a six-match win streak against the Crimson snapped last year with losses both in the ECAC Championship and during the Ivy season. The Tigers have won their last two overall against Dartmouth and last three Ivy matches against the Big Green.
Sophomore Nicole Kalhorn is the winningest Tiger in dual matches, going 11-2 with wins from third through fifth, and Kalhorn and senior Caroline Joyce are a team-best 10-3 as a doubles pair on the dual season.
