Harris and Walter Win Pole Vault and 200 at Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/17) - Senior Allison Harris won the pole vault and junior Christina Walter won the 200 on Day 2 of the Larry Ellis Invitational at Weaver Stadium.
Walter, who competed in three events today, had the top time in the 200, was the runner-up in the 100 and was posted of the 4x100 relay that took second. Walter won the 200 with a PR of 24.62, the first time she's clocked a sub-25. She recorded another PR in the 100 with a 12.06.
Freshman Ashley Willingham was third in the 200 with a PR of 24.93 and fifth in the 100 at 12.21.
Walter and Willingham, joined by sophomore Ellie Randolph and freshman Heide Baron, posted a time of 47.37 as the runner-up in the 4x100.
Both Randolph and Harris qualified for the 100 hurdles final. Randolph clocked 14.19 while Harris ran 14.39. Neither was able to compete in the final due to the duo competing in field events. Randolph ended up seventh in the long jump, with a leap of 5.39 (17-8.25) on her second attempt. Harris won the pole vault at 3.95 (12-11.50) clearing it on her first attempt. She passed on the first five heights between 3.35 and 3.85.
After winning last night's Elite 800, former Tiger Cecilia Barowski '16 earned another win – today in the 400 with a time of 53.46. Senior Elissa Steele had the best collegiate time at 55.60 – taking third overall.
Princeton claimed four of the top 10 places in the 1500, led by senior Jessica Ackerman. She shaved nearly four seconds off her previous best time with a 4:37.07 for fourth place. Ackerman was followed by junior Melissa Reed at 4:37.65, senior Zoe Sims at 4:39.65 and freshman Erin Endres at 4:39.71.
The Tigers had four of the top 10 spots in the 800 as well. Freshman Madeleine Sumner posted the best time for the squad as she took second with a 2:12.88. Senior Lizzie Bird was third at 2:13.11. Sophomore Brighie Leach was ninth at 2:14.62, while sophomore Madison Offstein was 10th at 2:14.88.
Sophomore Kerri Davidson had a personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.65 (38-2.75). She fouled on her first two attempts before reaching 11.65. She went on to jump to 11.53, 11.50 and 11.18. All four of those jumps succeeded her previous best of 11.00. Also PR'ing in the event was junior Delaney Kerkhof who hit 11.33 (37-2.25) on her first jump to take ninth.
In the high jump, both sophomore Nnenna Ibe and freshman Hadley Wilhoite cleared 1.60 (5-3) on their second attempts to take fifth and eighth in the event. Ibe had passed on the two opening heights to have the edge.
Both Tigers clocker PRs in the 400 hurdles. Freshman Devon Block-Funkhouser finished in 1:10.67 to take third, while sophomore Carly Bonnet was eighth at 1:02.68. The pair also ran in the 4x400 relay, along with juniors Ashley Reed and Quinn Parker. The relay made the laps in 3:50.74 to take third.
Princeton will compete at the Penn Relays and the TCNJ Invitational next week, April 27-29. They'll serve as the final meets before the 2017 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at Yale on May 6 & 7.
