Princeton Earns Split at Dartmouth
April 08, 2017 | Baseball
Princeton 4, Dartmouth 2
Conor Nolan had three hits to lead the Tigers while Nick Hernandez posted two knocks. Chris Giglio threw a quality start as he went six frames, scattering four hits, allowing two runs and striking out four.
Dartmouth began the scoring in the second inning. After a walk and single, a failed pick-off attempt put runners on second and third with one out. Adam Gauthier then launched a long double to center field that scored both runners and put the home team in front. Giglio escaped further damage with a strikeout and groundout.
Eight of the first nine Princeton hitters went down before the Tigers' leadoff hitter, Jesper Horsted, got the rally started in the third stanza. Horsted doubled down the left field line and then came around to touch home on a single from Asher Lee-Tyson. Lee-Tyson moved to second on a wild pitch while Zack Belski walked. Hernandez then laced a RBI single to right field to tie the game at 2-all. The next hitter, Nolan, followed through with this single to give the Tigers the lead.

Dartmouth 7, Princeton 4
After a groundout began the game, Princeton registered three straight singles highlighted by Hernandez' RBI knock. Dartmouth wasted little time tying the Ivy matchup as a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first made the score 1-all.
Dartmouth tried to steal a run in the second inning, but David Harding wouldn't allow it.

Tied at two, Dartmouth used a RBI triple from Justin Fowler and run-producing single from Michael Calamari to take a two-run lead in the fourth stanza.
In the next half inning, Belski's two-out single let Harding scoot home, getting the Tigers back within one (4-3). Dartmouth quickly went back to work in home half of stanza. Three consecutive hitters reached base before a single, hit-by-pitch and double play followed, leading to three more runs for the Big Green.
After a Cody Phillips RBI hit in the top of the sixth (7-4), the Tigers put together another rally in the eighth. Nolan led off with a walk before pinch-hitter Paul Tupper deposited this home run with two out….
