No. 22 Columbia Defeats Men's Tennis Team

No. 22 Columbia won the doubles point and followed that with the first three singles matches to be decided, defeating the Princeton men's tennis team 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The Tigers will head to Yale and Brown next weekend as Ivy League play continues. Princeton faced both of the Ivy's top-25 ranked teams this week as the Tigers headed to No. 24 Cornell Friday.
"Columbia was too solid today," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "We had some opportunities in doubles with no-ad points and didn't convert. To have a chance against a good team playing with confidence, it's essential to capitalize. We knew this weekend would be the toughest in terms of the Ivy schedule, and it's just the way it worked out. The guys are fighting and competing, but we just need more belief on the big points. We look forward to getting back to work and rebounding next weekend."
The Lion lineup featured three nationally ranked singles players and two nationally ranked doubles teams. Princeton's 25th-ranked Alex Day and Luke Gamble were a point from clinching a win over a fellow ranked team, No. 87 Shawn Hadavi and Jackie Tang, but that match was called once Columbia completed wins in the other two doubles matches.
