Samara Unanimous Coach of the Year; 13 Earn All-Ivy Honors

PRINCETON N.J. (5/9/17) - The William M. Weaver Jr. '34 Head Coach of Men's Track & Field Fred Samara was the unanimous selection for Ivy League Coach of the Year following Princeton's victory at Outdoor Ivy Heps on Sunday. The championship is the 40th Ivy League title for Samara. He has been named Coach of the Year four of the six times it has been awarded.
Thirteen All-Ivy League honors were presented to the Tigers, with four earning first-team All-Ivy League honors.
Senior Christopher Cook claimed his second consecutive shot put title, and has finished in the top three all four years he has competed. Junior August Kiles won his first outdoor pole vault title, following two runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2015. Senior Greg Leeper retained his 400 hurdles crown, while he also placed third in the long jump. In his first outdoor Heps, freshman Joey Daniels won the 110-meter hurdles for his first individual Ivy League honor.
Junior Mitchel Charles was a two-time second-team All-Ivy League honoree as he he was the runner-up in both the shot put and the discus.
Princeton won the 2017 Ivy Heps title, its 17th in school history and its fourth in the last five years.
