Lussi '17 Scores First Goal as a Pro, Leads Portland to NWSL Win

Just less than a month ago, Princeton women's soccer alum Tyler Lussi '17 made her professional debut with the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League. In the weeks since, she's joined the starting lineup, and Saturday, she scored her first goal with the Thorns.
Lussi's 39th-minute goal ended up being the game-winner in Portland's 2-1 victory over Houston, the Thorns' third straight. Portland ended Saturday's play in a close third place in the NWSL standings with 28 points, two back of first-place North Carolina, with eight games to go in the regular season and the finale set for Sept. 30. The top four teams make the NWSL postseason, and Portland stands four points clear of fourth-place Seattle.
