Coming off a sweep of the opening Sunday of the dual-match season, the Princeton men's tennis team will head across the country to face Portland Thursday and Washington Saturday.
The Tigers have never faced Portland and are 2-2 all-time against the Huskies with all four matches coming between 1985 and 2006. It'll be the first time the teams have met outside California.
Portland stands at 0-3 heading into Thursday's 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET match with the Tigers at the Stafford Hills Club in Tualatin, Ore., as the Pilots are coming off matches at Wake Forest in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend against Vanderbilt and Old Dominion. Washington, which will host Princeton Saturday at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET, is 2-1 heading into a Friday visit from Pepperdine.
Princeton, in its wins over Michigan State and Wagner Sunday, saw eight Tigers contribute singles wins with 114th-ranked Ryan Seggerman, a rookie, get two wins atop the singles lineup. Five doubles pairs won matches as Princeton took each doubles point 3-0, with Seggerman and sophomore Payton Holden pairing in both matches.
The Tigers will be competing in the Northeast for the next two weekends after the trip to the Northwest, hosting Mississippi next Friday, Feb. 9, at the Centercourt Athletic Club in Chatham, N.J. before a ride up to Army West Point that Sunday for matches against Buffalo and the Black Knights. The ECAC Championship, hosted by Yale, will take place the following weekend.
