Princeton to Host Farnsworth Invitational This Weekend
October 01, 2018 | Men's Tennis
The Farnsworth Invitational will bring players from throughout the region to Princeton this Friday through Sunday for the Tigers' second home tournament of the fall.
The event is named in honor of the late Princeton tennis alumnus, All-America honoree and Navy lieutenant Ted Farnsworth '84.
Draws are available here.
Players from Army West Point, Bucknell, Buffalo, Colgate, Delaware, Drexel, Gardner Webb, Hofstra, Lehigh, Marist, Middlebury, NJIT, Temple and William & Mary will join those from Princeton for the event. Jimmy Wasserman, Noah Agarwal, Kabir Sarita and Justin Barki will represent the Tigers in the tournament.
The tournament will have schools' players entered in pairs of two for a "mini Davis Cup format." Each pair will form a team that will play doubles first, followed by two singles matches. The winner of 2-of-3 matches for each "tie" advances. The losing players also continue playing in a compass draw that will guarantee four singles and four doubles. Matches will be played outdoors at the Lenz Tennis Center, and if necessary, indoors in Jadwin Gym in the event of rain. Admission to all of the event's matches is free.
Play will start at 9 a.m. each day. Friday has one round of singles and two rounds of doubles, while Saturday has two rounds of singles and one round of doubles, and Sunday has one round each of singles and doubles. A more in-depth schedule is below:
