Princeton Takes Down No. 22 Cornell 2-0

Princeton remains unbeaten and in first place in the Ivy League standings after a 2-0 shutout of No. 22 ranked Cornell on Saturday at Berman Field.
Senior Sean McSherry and sophomore Gaby Paniagua each scored for the Tigers who improve to 9-4-2 overall and 5-0-2 in their last seven games. Junior goallkeeper Jacob Schachner made a huge stop on a penalty kick with 7.8 seconds remaining in the first half for his sixth shutout of the season.
Schachner is now tied for sixth in program history in shutouts in a season - along with Gaetano Cipriano (1977), Erik White (2004) and Ben Hummel (2014).
As Week 5 of 7 of Ivy League play wraps, Princeton is in first place with 13 points, one point ahead of Columbia while Cornell drops into third with nine points, following by Dartmouth with eight.
McSherry tallied his fourth goal of the season when he buried a Cole Morokhovich corner kick in the 39th minute.
Schachner came up big with 7.8 seconds left in the half to give his team the 1-0 lead at halftime. He has stopped both penalty kicks he has faced his season.
McSherry earned the assist on Paniagua's goal in the 78th minute as the Tigers pushed the game out reach for the Big Red.
Princeton outshot Cornell 17-7 and had a 12-2 differential in shots on goal.
The Tigers host Penn on Senior Day next Saturday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m.
