November 10, 2018 | Men's Swimming and Diving
COMPLETE RESULTS l DAY 1 RECAP
The Princeton men's swimming & diving team held off a talented field in a closely contested weekend to win the 2018 Big Al Invitational, which ended Saturday at DeNunzio Pool. The Tigers took the win with 897 points, while the next three teams (Duke, Northwestern and Penn State) each scored at least 700 points during the three-session meet.
Princeton, which held a lead after a strong Day 1, opened the day with sophomore Levy Nathan taking fifth in the mile in 15:47.47. Senior co-captain Cole Buese, the 100 fly winner Friday night, grabbed his second victory of the weekend by taking the 200 back in 1:46.93. Fellow co-captain Murphy McQuet followed with a third-place finish in the 100 free (44.58), an early sign of the senior leadership the Tigers would get from their captains in the pool this season.
Daniel Arris and Corey Lau both had top-six finishes in the 200 breast, and then freshman Raunak Khosla (1:49.15) and Derek Cox (1:49.27) went 2-3 in the 200 fly. The quartet of Buese, Christian Feiler, Joshua Brown and McQuet capped the swimming portion of the meet by taking second in the 400 free relay in 2:59.16.
Junior Charlie Minns gave Princeton a diving win on the 1-meter board with 308.25 points, while sophomore teammate Colten Young won the platform competition with 290.05 points.
