Princeton Faces Michigan in NCAA Tournament

Eye on the Tigers
Princeton heads to its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance sporting a 10-5-2 overall record. The 2018 Ivy League champions head to Ann Arbor with the ninth best scoring defense in the nation. Four members of defensive line earned All-Ivy League honors on Wednesday afternoon, along with goalkeeper Jacob Schachner. Schachner is 16th in the NCAA in goals against average at 0.70 and has a .771 save percentage. Schachner has posted six shutouts this season and now has 10 in his career to rank eighth all-time at Princeton with one season remaining. Offensively the team ranks fifth in the NCAA in shots on goal per game (7.12) and sixth in shots per game (16.24). Senior Sean McSherry leads with 12 points, scoring four goals and four assists while the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year has 11 points - all of which came during league play. Senior Jeremy Colvin adds 10 with five goals all game-winning goals - putting him 10th in that category in the nation. Sophomore Gaby Paniagua trails Colvin by just one point, with nine total, scoring four times and adding one assist.
Tourney Time
This is Princeton's 10th appearance at the NCAA Tournament and first since 2010. The Tigers haven't made it past the first round since the 1993 team went to the College Cup falling to UVa in the semifinals during its run under head coach Bob Bradley (LA Galaxy).

Princeton and Michigan have never met in men's soccer.
At Stake
The winner advances to the second round to face seventh-seeded Notre Dame in South Bend on Sunday at 5 p.m., at Alumni Stadium.
Scouting the Wolverines
The Wolverines are 12-5-2 after a third-place Big Ten regular season finish, which was followed by a 3-0 loss to Indiana in the Big Ten tournament final. Michigan is in the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. The Wolverines are led by Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Jack Hallahan who has eight goals and eight assists. Umar Farouk Osman also has had a 20-point season with nine goals and three helpers. Other players the Princeton has to watch on the defensive end are Marc Ybarra, Mohammed Zakyi and Robbie Metz. Offensively the Blue have scored 35 goals for the team to sit 31st in NCAA in scoring offense. The team has allowed just 17 goals this season, the 31st best scoring defense as well.
