Tigers Ready for National Championship This Saturday
November 15, 2018 | Women's Cross Country
The Princeton women's cross country team will race for the national title on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the NCAA Championships in Madison, Wisconsin. The 6k race is set to begin at 11:45 a.m. (ET).
This is the 12th time the Tigers have reached the NCAA Championships and first since 2015. The program had a stretch of eight straight appearances between 2003-2009 with back-to-back fifth place finishes in 2008 and 2009.
Princeton is ranked No. 17 in this week's USTFCCCA national poll - the highest ranked Ivy League team in the poll.
After a third-place finish at Ivy Heps, the Tigers vaulted ahead at Regionals and claimed second place.
The Tigers top seven have jostled positions during the post-season but have remained the same. Sophomore Melia Chittenden was the leader at Heps taking eighth overall and was 20th at Regionals. Sophomore Sophie Cantine had the best finish at Regionals, finishing eighth after a 27th-place finish at Heps. Senior Madison Offstein has been the No. 2 runner in both postseason races. Seniors Allie Klimkiewicz and Alie Fordyce along with freshmen Page Lester and Gillian Wagner will push for scoring spots as each has been a top seven for the Tigers the last two races.
