Tigers Begin Indoor Season at The Armory

The Princeton men's track and field team begins the 2018-19 indoor season on Saturday competing at The Armory in the TCNJ Indoor Opener.

A Year Ago
Princeton won its 21st Ivy Heps indoor title last year with 16 members of the squad earning All-Ivy League honors. Head Coach Fred Samara was the unanimous selection for Coach of the Year, and has captured the honor five of the seven times it has been awarded.
Back on the Track
Princeton returns 11 scorers from last year's Indoor Heps championship team including three individual champions.

Junior Joey Daniels, the reigning 60-meter hurdles champion owns the Princeton record in the event with time of 7.81. Sophomore Jeffrey Hollis win the high jump put him into fifth place all time at Princeton with a mark of 2.14 (7-0.25), while senior Adam Kelly has the second-best mark all time in the weight throw with a 22.62 (74-2.50).

Four other Tigers hold down top-10 individual records: Â including Charlie Volker in the 60 and 100, Franklin Aririguzoh in the 600, Conor Lundy in the 5000, Stefan Amokwandoh in the triple jump.
Fresh Faces
Princeton added 17 freshmen as the Class of 2022.

Learning from the Best
Joining the Princeton coaching staff this season is Olympic gold medalist English Gardner. Gardner will help coach the Tigers in the sprints. She is the third Olympian on the coaching staff, joining assistant coach Robby Andrews and head coach Fred Samara.

Up Next
The Tigers host the annual New Year Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Jadwin Gym. It will be the final meet of the 2018 season. The team will return to the track in 2019 on Sunday, January 6 in a dual meet with Navy at Jadwin Gym.
