STATEN ISLAND, NY (12/1/18) - The Princeton women's track & field team opened the 2018-19 season at the Fasttrack Season Opener at Ocean Breeze this afternoon and wasted no time proving their talents.
Senior Laura Hergenrother ran just off her PR in the 3k with a time of 10:06.65, an incredible feat coming at this time of year, just weeks removed from cross country season.
The Tigers A team in the 4x400 relay put up a time nearly as fast as they did all last indoor season. Head coach Michelle Eisenreich explained that the team didn't necessarily have their four fastest legs in the same relay and thinks had they done that, the time would have been a second faster than last year's season best. Sophomore Katie DiFrancesco excelled ith a terrific opening leg on the relay. Freshman Isabella Hilditch, Allison Glossinger and Carly Bonnet made up the final three legs that ran a 3:48.93. The second relay consisted of Jackie Berardo, Heide Baron, Ashley Willingham and Samantha Anderson and posted a time of 3:54.90. With depth and interchangeable legs, when it comes to Ivy Heps, Princeton should be solid in not on the 4x400 but also the DMR.
"It was a really great way to start of the year," Eisenreich said. "I think it's going to bring a lot of excitement to our team as we get ready for our home opener next weekend."
Princeton hosts the annual New Years Invitational next Saturday, Dec. 8 at Jadwin Gym.
