Khosla, Lin, Nathan Post Double Wins To Lead Princeton Past Columbia In 2018 Finale
December 08, 2018 | Men's Swimming and Diving
The Princeton men's swimming and diving team wrapped up a perfect 2018 portion of its season Saturday afternoon at Uris Natatorium in New York City with a 161.5-138.5 victory over Columbia. The victory moves Princeton to 7-0 in duals, including 4-0 in the Ivy League, and that doesn't factor in wins at both the Big Al Invitational and the Bruno Invitational.
You can find complete results from Saturday here.
Princeton got its first win of the day from sophomore Levy Nathan, who won the 1000 in 9:23.46, more than five seconds faster than anybody in the field. Nathan wasn't finished winning in New York City, as he claimed the 500 free later in the meet in 4:33.61.
Senior co-captain Murphy McQuet followed with a 200 free win in 1:37.73, and junior Tyler Lin added a 100 breast victory in 56.79; Lin came back later in the meet to take the 200 breast in 2:05.05.
One of the standout freshmen in the Ivy League this season has been Princeton's Raunak Khosla, and he showed his speed twice Saturday. He started by taking the 200 fly in 1:49.09, and then he added a 200 IM win in 1:51.10. Junior Wade O'Brien held off senior teammate Cole Buese to win the 200 back in 1:48.36.
Some of the Ivy League's top divers put on quite a show throughout the meet. Reigning Ivy League Diver of the Year Jonathan Suckow swept both events, but 2018 NCAA qualifiers Colten Young and Charlie Minns both put up significant scores on the 1- and 3-meter boards to claim either second or third place.
Princeton closed the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay, as the quartet of Joshua Brown, Christian Feiler, Lin and McQuet took the race in 3:01.74.
The Tigers will be off through the rest of 2018, and they will return to DeNunzio Pool Jan. 5 for a 2 pm showdown against Navy.
