February 14, 2018 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. – As they prepare for the Princeton Invitational, the Princeton Tigers sit No. 22 in the most recent Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll.
Princeton went 0-4 at the Arizona State Challenge earlier this month, facing four nationally ranked opponents including two in the top 10. The Tigers fell to No. 5 Arizona State, 14-9, before losses to No. 16 UC-San Diego (6-4), No. 21 Loyola Marymount (10-2) and No. 6 Hawaii (12-5).
Chelsea Johnson leads the Tigers with five goals this year, followed by Haley Wan and Amy Castellano. Lindsey Kelleher has a team-best eight points in four games (two goals, six assists). Castellano has lost just two sprints in 14 attempts this year.
The top five remains the same as Stanford is the top squad for another week. Cal., USC, UCLA and Hawaii follow. Michigan, the top CWPA team, is No. 9.
The Princeton Invitational gets underway on Friday as the Tigers take on the Chinese National Squad. Head coach Becca Dorst's squad battles George Washington (11:45 a.m.) and Iona (4:45) on Saturday before finishing up with Villanova (9:15 a.m.). Princeton is a combined 102-2 against George Washington, Iona and Villanova all-time. Every game at the invitational will be streamed on the Ivy League Network. Only games that the Tigers are playing in will have play-by-play.
