No. 22 Tigers Wrap Up Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 22 Princeton Tigers routed the Villanova Wildcats, 13-3, before a 10-6 exhibition loss to Chinese National Team on the final day of the Princeton Invitational.

The Highlights:
The Tigers held the Wildcats without a goal for the first 6:31 of game action.
In front by three goals, Princeton used a 4-0 spurt in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Chelsea Johnson and Lindsey Kelleher had three goals each in the victory.
Recap:
Freshman goalie Marissa Webb continued her outstanding play as she allowed just one tally in each of the first two quarters. Webb held Villanova off the scoreboard in the third stanza as Princeton raced out to a 9-2 advantage. The Tigers posted four goals in each of the first, third and fourth quarters as it took home a 13-3 victory.

The Highlights:
Natalie Grayson's goal with 3:35 to go tied the game at 2-all in the first quarter.
Ahead by two, China scored three straight goals in the third quarter to go in front, 8-3.
China snagged the last two goals of the contest to secure the victory.

Princeton registered the first goal of the game before China ripped off the next two to take the lead. Grayson's tally tied the game at 2-all after eight minutes. Princeton remained within range of China as the national squad took a two-goal advantage into halftime, 5-3.
China gained separation, holding Princeton off the scoreboard for almost eight minutes, racing in front, 8-3, during the third quarter. Princeton made one more push with tallies from Wan and Johnson closing the its deficit to two, 8-6, as the clock ticked near two and half minutes to go. China answered with a goal 23 seconds later and tacked on an additional tally to hold off Princeton, 10-6.
Princeton (3-4) travels to George Washington next Saturday (Feb. 24) before taking part in the Crimson Invitational the following week. The match vs. George Washington gets underway at 11 a.m.
