February 21, 2018 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. - As the No. 22 Princeton Tigers ready for another contest against the George Washington Colonials, Marissa Webb was selected as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Defensive Player of the Week.
Webb had a great weekend as she wrapped up the Princeton Invite by allowing just five combined goals against Iona and Villanova. The freshman goalie earned 14 saves against George Washington on Saturday along with three assists. After earning just 10 or saves in one of her first four games, she had two in three outings at the Princeton Invite.
Princeton remained at No. 22 in the CWPA Varsity Poll despite a 3-0 weekend including an exhibition loss to the Chinese National Team. The top 12 remained the same with Stanford sitting at the top of the poll. Michigan continues as the top CWPA team at No. 9.
Chelsea Johnson leads the Tigers with 12 goals this season while Haley Wan has a team-high 17 points. Freshman Sarah Lawson has 13 steals, pacing Princeton while Webb has a .574 save percentage in 216 minutes.
The Tigers make the trip to Washington, D.C. this weekend to take on George Washington Saturday (11:45 a.m.) The game will be streamed on the A-10 Media Portal ($). Head coach Becca Dorst' squad dropped the Colonials, 14-6, last Saturday as Webb posted a shutout in the final quarter. Princeton is 49-0 all-time against George Washington in program history.
