Princeton Rolls By Brown, 77-62

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Five different players scored in double figures as the Princeton Tigers (14-4, 4-1 Ivy) rolled over the Brown Bears (13-6, 1-5 Ivy), 77-62, at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday evening.

Tia Weledji recorded a team-high 15 points, missing just one shot on seven attempts. Leslie Robinson was one rebound shy of a double-double with 14 points. She added five assists and two steals. Qalea Ismail and Abby Meyers each had 11 points while Gabrielle Rush secured 10 in the win. It's the fifth straight game for Rush in double figures.

The Tigers' offense got started early, like on the first play, as Alarie won the tip, knocked it to Leslie Robinson, who found Ismail for the bucket.

Brown remained within striking distance, trailing, 29-23, with 6:22 left in the first half, but Princeton ran off seven consecutive points in just 1:13. The Bears got the game back to single-digits, however the Tigers closed the half on a 15-4 run, highlighted by seven points from Weledji (51-33). Princeton finished the first half with a remarkable 50 percent shooting (20-of-40).

The Tigers pushed its advantage to as many as 25 in the third quarter and took a 22-point lead (69-47) into the final frame. The road squad was 8-of-15 (52.3 percent) in the third. Brown closed within 15 with 1:36 to go, but never threatened Princeton.

Shayna Mehta registered a game-high 17 points for Brown while Janie White had 15 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Head coach Courtney Banghart's squad assisted on 22 of their 32 baskets. They outrebounded Brown, 43-32, and stole 11 passes. The bench scored a season-high 39 points in the victory.

Princeton continues Ivy play with a three-game homestand beginning with Harvard next Friday (6:30 p.m.). The game will be streamed on the Ivy League Network and ESPN3.
