March 17, 2018 | Baseball
BETHESDA, Md. – Princeton split a doubleheader against the Georgetown Hoyas, dropping game one, 3-1, but picking up a 10-4 win in game two at Shirley Povich Field on Saturday.
Game 1 – Georgetown 3, Princeton 1 (7 innings)
The Hoyas got on the scoreboard first on an Eddie McCabe's sacrifice fly in the first inning. Ryan Davis added on to Georgetown's lead with a RBI single in the next frame.
Princeton put together their biggest threat in the fifth inning. Ramzi Haddad led off with a walk. Three batters later, he moved to third base on a single from Brian Kregel. Jake Boone had his second career RBI as he ripped a base hit to center field that scored Haddad, however Kregel was thrown out at the plate to end the frame.
The Tigers got a runner in the top of the seven, but couldn't put together a rally.
Ryan Smith went five innings, allowing just two earned runs, striking out six in the loss. Davis had three hits for Georgetown while Brent Killiam threw the complete game for the Hoyas.
Game 2- Princeton 10, Georgetown 4 (9 innings)

Joseph Flynn had a career-high four RBI while Ramzi Haddad hit his second career home run. The Tigers finished with 12 hits, five of which went for extra bases.
It took the Tigers just four batters to get the scoring started as Conor Nolan's two-run double put Princeton in front. Davis led off the game with a single. Two hitters, Jesper Horsted walked before Nolan followed with his double. Two batters after, Sy Snedeker lined a double that allowed Nolan to scamper home.
Gnazzo retired 11 straight hitters from the first through the fourth frames. Flynn added a sacrifice fly for Princeton, giving the road squad a 4-0 lead. Georgetown loaded the bases in the fourth stanza, but couldn't push across a run.
Davis led off the fifth inning with a double and advanced to third on a single from Horsted. Davis completed his trip around the bases on a wild pitch. Flynn knocked in two more on a single to center field.
Georgetown scored runs in the fifth and sixth before the Tigers put up a three-spot in the seventh inning. Horsted began the at-bat with a triple and would score on Flynn's fourth RBI of the game (single). Two batters later, Haddad banged out his second career home run to left field.
Ryan Davis' run-producing double and Eddie Achecar's RBI groundout gave Georgetown its third and fourth runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Austin Shirley snagged three hits for Georgetown in the loss. Andrew Gnazzo threw a career-high six innings, striking out five, earning his second career victory. Tanner Kliewer finished off the rest of the contest, picking up his first career save.
