Heavyweights Open With Trio Of Wins On Lake Carnegie
March 24, 2018 | Heavyweight Rowing
The fifth-ranked Princeton heavyweights opened their 2018 season in strong fashion Saturday morning with a sweep of Georgetown, George Washington, and Drexel on Lake Carnegie. The four programs used the day to additional shorter races during the morning and a later afternoon session. You can find all the times here.
You can see highlights of the 1V race by clicking the play link in the photo above. Princeton was able to grab control from the start of the race, though all four programs battled hard through a windy morning in Princeton.
Princeton added victories in both the 2V and 3V races to complete a perfect morning in the opener.
The Tigers will head to Annapolis next Saturday to take on the Midshipmen in the annual Navy-Princeton Rowing Cup regatta. Princeton retained the Cup in 2017 with an 18-second victory at Lake Carnegie. The Midshipmen opened the season ranked 16th in the USRowing Collegiate Coaches Poll.
