No. 22 Princeton Picks Up Two Wins To Complete Harvard Invite

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 22 Princeton Tigers rallied to force overtime before taking down the No. 18 San Jose Spartans, 8-6, at Blodgett Pool on Sunday morning.
Princeton also defeated the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in an exhibition match, 11-3. Eight different players scored for the Tigers in the win.

Sydney Cheong's goal with 5:27 to go tied the game at 5-all.

The two teams played to a defensive battle in the first quarter as they combined for two goals, tying the score at 1-all after eight minutes. Neither team led by more than a goal in the first half as San Jose State held a 3-2 advantage after the break.
San Jose State pushed ahead, racing out to the a three-goal lead, 5-2, with 2:48 remaining in the third stanza. Wan posted two tallies to finish the quarter, getting the Tigers within one, 5-4. Cheong tied the matchup in the fourth frame, sending it to overtime. Chelsea Johnson and Lindsey Kelleher scored first in the overtime before the Spartans cut their deficit to one, 7-6, with 1:39 left. Wan's insurance tally just 23 seconds later proved to be the difference.

Princeton has now won six straight games (excluding exhibitions) after beginning the season 0-4. The Tigers have also won two consecutive games against nationally ranked opponents. Head coach Becca Dorst's team heads to Oneonta, N.Y. next week (Mar. 10-11) to take on No. 13 Hartwick, No. 9 Michigan and Brown.
