Kelly to Compete at NCAA Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. (3/6/18) - Junior Adam Kelly will compete in his second consecutive NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, March 10 in College Station, Texas.
The weight throw is scheduled for 2 p.m. (local time), with one single flight with the top nine advancing for three more throws.
Kelly was 10th in this event last March to earn second-team All-America honors. He just missed making the top nine - by 0.24 meters - for three more throws, with his top throw being 21.37 (69-4). The winning throw was Johnnie Jackson (LSU) at 22.88 (75-0.75). T
The 2018 Ivy League champion in the event, Kelly has a season best of 22.09 (72-5.75) and owns a PR of 22.62 (74-2.50)
Six of last year's competitors return this year including national runner-up Grant Cartwright (Michigan). Cartwright has the sixth best mark this season at 22.87. Josh Davis (NC State) who claimed fifth place a year ago enters the meet with the best throw in the nation at 23.83. Following him is Denzel Comenentia (Georgia) and Joseph Ellis (Michigan) who is a returner after taking seventh last year. Other repeats are Daniel Haugh (Alabama) and AJ McFarland (Florida)
Other Tigers who have thrown the weight at the NCAA Championships include: Peter Seley (1990), Witek Grzymala-Busse (1993, 94, 95), Josh McCaughey (2001-15th, 2002-15th) and Alex Pessala (2009-10th).
