The Quakers broke through in the sixth inning. After two groundouts to begin the frame, a walk was followed by five consecutive singles before Matt Tola rounded out the stanza with a two-run double. When it was finished, the Quakers had jumped in front, 6-1.
A fielding error gave the Tigers their second run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Penn bullpen retired the final eight Princeton batters.
Gabe Klieman threw into the sixth inning, striking out four hitters, in earning the victory. Matt O'Neill and Andrew Murnane had two hits each to lead the Quakers.
These two Ivy rivals wrap up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m. The games will be streamed on the Ivy League Network.
