Tigers Pull Even in Ivy Play, Top Yale
April 14, 2018 | Men's Tennis
Senior weekend for the Princeton men's tennis team began with a 4-0 win over Yale Saturday afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center.
The win moves Princeton to 17-9 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy on the dual-match season.
"After a close doubles we did a great job of seizing momentum early in singles play," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "Our seniors were certainly grateful for the enthusiastic crowd and picture perfect weather for their final home weekend. We'll need to be ready for Brown tomorrow as they always bring a great deal of energy and fight."
Princeton recognized its four-member senior class of Luke Gamble, Diego Vives, Ben Tso and Kial Kaiser before the match with the likelihood of rain forcing Sunday's 1 p.m. contest against Brown indoors to Jadwin Gym. If the match is indoors, it will be streamed on the Ivy League Network. Updates will be available on Twitter at @PtonMensTennis.
Princeton opened with wins from Gamble and Damian Rodriguez on doubles court one and answered a Yale win on court three with the clincher on court two from Payton Holden and Ryan Seggerman to gain the day's first point. Holden, Davey Roberts and Kaiser then won their singles matches to get Princeton to 4-0 before the remaining matches were ended in progress.
