Kelly Wins Hammer Throw on Day 1 of Larry Ellis Invitational

Results
Junior Adam Kelly won the hammer throw with a throw of 71.66 (235-1) as Princeton finished Day 1 of the Larry Ellis Invitational. Five of Kelly's six attempts were over the 70-meter mark, as he looked to match his PR of 71.92 from the Sam Howell Invitational. He opened with a 66.69 before a 71.54, 70.09, 71.62, 70.97 and his best throw a 71.66 on his final attempt. Kelly currently is sixth in the nation with his throw of 71.92. Senior Gabe Arcaro was sixth in the same event with a 53.99 (177-1), his best throw of the season.

Senior Josh Ingalls was seventh overall and the third best collegian in the 800 at 1:50.15 (53.38, 56.78).

In the steeplechase, freshman Ed Trippas ran his best time of the season with a 9:02.05 (39.17, 1:11.23, 1:12.61, 1:11.67, 1:12.73, 1:13.19, 1:13.79, 1:08.68) to take fifth and had the top collegiate time. Sophomore Perrin Hagge ran a PR of 9:12.89.

Three Tigers finished in the top 10 in the 5k, led by sophomore Gannon Willcutts. Willcutts was the runner-up with the best collegiate time at 14:18.42. Junior Jeremy Spiezio was fifth at 14:21.33 and freshman Matt Grossman was seventh at 14:28.89.
Day 2 begins tomorrow at 11 a.m., with the discus throw.
