Princeton 1V Improves To 10-1, Claims First Road Win At Virginia

The 10th-ranked Princeton varsity eight bounced back from a loss to #7 Iowa last weekend and posted an impressive road showing Saturday morning on the Rivanna Reservoir. The Tiger 1V topped ninth-ranked Virginia by nine seconds to improve to 10-1 on the season in the first meeting ever between the two programs in Charlottesville.
The host Cavaliers had the overall advantage in wins, as they took the two other NCAA Championships-format races, and also earned wins in the V4B and third varsity eight.
The Princeton 1V, which returns to Lake Carnegie next weekend for a Senior Day showdown with both #12 Wisconsin and Syracuse, made an impressive road debut Saturday morning. The Tigers took the win in 6:29.8, while Virginia finished second in 6:38.8.
Next weekend's races against Wisconsin and Syracuse will follow the heavyweight Content Cup regatta between Princeton and Brown. The races will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network.
