Tigers Put Up PRs at Army West Point Twilight Meet

Princeton had a tremendous showing at the Army West Point Twilight Meet last night. Despite a lightning delay the Tigers posted a number of PRs in one of the final last chance meets to qualify for the NCAA East Regional.

Senior Noah Kauppila took fifth in the 800 at 1:49.38 (52.631, 56.744). It was a new PR besting his previous time of 1:49.58 from the 2015 outdoor Ivy Heps. The time sits Kauppila 38th on the descending order list, with the top 48 qualifying.

Senior Franklin Aririguzoh was 11th at 1:51.29 (54.227, 57.059) besting his PR from the 2017 indoor Ivy Heps. Freshman Sam Ellis clocked 1:51.34 (53.981, 57.356) for 12th.

Last week at Heps senior Josh Ingalls secured his place in the NCAA Regional with the second-fastest time in Ivy Heps history and second-fastest time in Princeton history.

Senior Mitchel Charles won the discus at 55.19 (181-1). It came on his first throw, while also having throws of 54.99, 54.84, 54.28, 53.73, 52.03. It was a PR for the Ivy League Most Outstanding Field Performer and the fourth best throw in program history. It was the best throw at Princeton since 1996 when Alex Kolovyansky threw 58.24 - the second-best throw in history. The mark currently sits Charles 21st in the NCAA East.

Freshman Robbie Otal was fourth with a toss of 49.61 (162-9) that came on his second attempt. He also had throws of 49.36, 48.65, 47.34 and two fouls.

Senior Zachary Albright clocked 3:48.22 (43.673, 1:03.638, 1:01.673, 59.232) in the 1500 besting his PR form earlier this season of 3:50.20.

In the 400 hurdles senior Spencer Long took first place at 53.04.

Princeton hosts the IC4A Championship this weekend at Weaver Stadium. The men's hammer throw kicks this off at 10 a.m., on Saturday.
